How guides are written
Every guide is written in plain English, for readers of all experience levels and from any country. We explain boating terms when we use them, give practical steps rather than vague advice, and focus on what actually matters when you are choosing, buying or looking after a boat.
Accuracy
Information is checked against reliable sources, such as manufacturers, boating organisations and official safety guidance, before it is published. Boating rules, prices and specifications change, so guides are reviewed and updated when we become aware of changes. If you spot a mistake, please tell us through the Contact page and we will correct it.
Independence
FindBoat is independent. We do not take payment to recommend a boat, a product or a service. If we ever work with a company, that relationship will be disclosed clearly in the guide and on the Disclosure page. Advertising on the site, such as Google AdSense adverts, does not influence what we write.
Reviews and recommendations
Where a guide recommends a type of boat or a piece of equipment, the recommendation is based on how useful it is for the reader, not on any payment. We have not tested every boat on the water, and we say so where that is the case.
Corrections
If a guide is wrong or out of date, we correct it. Small corrections are made quietly; larger changes are noted in the guide where that helps the reader.
